King Cabbage Brass Band has been turning heads since their inception a little over two years ago in their hometown of Tulsa, OK. With the release of the first single, “Blackberry Brandy” from their upcoming eponymous full-length album, their fanbase is now growing worldwide. On Friday, September 29th King Cabbage celebrated the release of “Kings and Queens” the second single from their upcoming album with a headlining concert at Cain’s Ballroom. The official release of the band’s first studio album is Friday, October 27 on all streaming platforms.
“The record evokes moments of thoughtfulness, sexiness, silliness, anxiety, love, and heartbreak,” said the band’s leader, Tulsa native Greg Fallis. “We are a party band with a purpose to celebrate all the ups and downs of life that make our shared experience uniquely beautiful. We hope you enjoy this record and the stories it tells.”
Recorded at Cardinal Song Studio in Oklahoma City, the album was mixed and mastered at Esplanade Studios by Grammy Award-winning producer, Misha Kachkachishvili. In addition to Fallis on trombone and sousaphone, the band includes noted Tulsa musicians, Nicholas Foster (drums), Dave Johnson (trumpet), Ryan Hatcher (trumpet), Jordan Hehl (bass, bass drum), Bishop Marsh, (trumpet), Andy McCormick (sax), Kristin Ruyle (percussion), Dylan Ward (trombone), and Isaac Washam (trombone).
The music video for “Kings and Queens” was directed by Matt Taylor of T Town Productions on location at The Colony, one of Tulsa’s legendary nightclubs, and co-directed by Ashley Kirkley who manages Mercury Lounge, another Tulsa hotspot. The Kings and Queens food feast was styled by renowned Tulsa chef Tiffany Taylor.
